About Madivala Lake

A big lake with islands, reed edges and a walkway. Winter brings ducks and waders, and the larger birds (storks, pelicans, ibises) are reported here more than at most other city lakes.

History

An old tank that was part of the Kempegowda-era lake network, later restored in stages.

Flora

Reed beds, water hyacinth patches and big shade trees on the bund.

Fauna

Fish, turtles, dragonflies and the occasional otter in the larger lakes.

Tips

  • Scan the island trees for roosting storks and pelicans.
  • A scope helps for waders on the far shore.
